Nice days are for going to the beach, having picnics, ballgames, and plying with your children. The best part of warm weather is there is no need for heat, therefore while you are enjoying your days Black Goose can come and inspect and sweep your chimney. We can schedule your appointment right away!
While we are there make sure we check your dryer vent. This will help your power bills and make sure that your clothes are drying just using one cycle.
So see we can give you lots of ideas for your nice spring and summer days.
Remember Black Goose Chimney 596-2298!
On February 7, 2012 Black Goose Chimney received a call from Surry County Social Services asking us to evaluate a smoking stove problem for one of their clients. The stove was old and broken and the chimney contained broken flue liners. The necessary repairs were beyond the budget of the client or the agency trying to help. Jim Bostaph went to a meeting of the Virginia Association of Chimney and Hearth Professionals (VACHP) and told them about this issue. They voted to do a charity workshop for this client. On Friday, March 16, 2012, members of the VACHP volunteered their time, Copperfield Chimney Supply donated a new stove. Olympia Chimney donated the Ventis connector and Forever Flex relining pipe and components. And the project was off and running! The Colony Group donated lunch from The Surry House for the volunteers. By 4:30 Friday afternoon this gentleman had his only heat source installed and ready to go. As the men left the client said “y’all are good people.” At our company meeting today Jim was telling our staff that everything went well and summed it up by saying it was “a feel good day!”

Cold weather does a few things for us. It helps change the leaves to beautiful colors, it makes our grass dormant so there is no need for cutting, and last but certainly not least it makes us appreciate the warm days of Spring. Now for the bad news, the cold weather is going to be here for a while. There are some things we need to watch for when we are trying to stay warm. The thought of a nice blazing fire in our fireplace is comfy and at times romantic, the one rule to remember is there is a fire in our house. Keep this in mind when burning a nice cozzy fire.
Over the holidays there were several accounts of house fires and chimney fires. We at Black Goose want to remind you to get your chimney inspected every year and swept as needed. If you have questions about scheduling your inspection or sweep please call us at Black Goose Chimney 757-596-2298. Please enjoy the winter but remember to be careful!
