On February 7, 2012 Black Goose Chimney received a call from Surry County Social Services asking us to evaluate a smoking stove problem for one of their clients. The stove was old and broken and the chimney contained broken flue liners. The necessary repairs were beyond the budget of the client or the agency trying to help. Jim Bostaph went to a meeting of the Virginia Association of Chimney and Hearth Professionals (VACHP) and told them about this issue. They voted to do a charity workshop for this client. On Friday, March 16, 2012, members of the VACHP volunteered their time, Copperfield Chimney Supply donated a new stove. Olympia Chimney donated the Ventis connector and Forever Flex relining pipe and components. And the project was off and running! The Colony Group donated lunch from The Surry House for the volunteers. By 4:30 Friday afternoon this gentleman had his only heat source installed and ready to go. As the men left the client said “y’all are good people.” At our company meeting today Jim was telling our staff that everything went well and summed it up by saying it was “a feel good day!”
