Chimney Caps can Save You Money

Chimney Caps can Save you Money

We’ve discussed how the best form of fire protection in your home is prevention. Luckily, there are products out there designed to help you avoid expensive and dangerous fires in your home. Investing in these tools will help keep your family safe, and will also keep your chimney in working order for many years.

Chimney caps are typically made from steel, copper, or aluminum so you can trust their durability. They are placed on the top of your chimney, on the exterior. When your chimney and fireplace are in use, the chimney cap remains open, to let smoke and ventilation through. During the “off season” when you are not using your chimney or fireplace, simply close the chimney cap. This creates a seal around your chimney. The seal will not allow debris like sticks and leaves inside your chimney. These objects are flammable, but can also be wet and create moisture inside your chimney. A cap will also prevent squirrels, birds, and other unwanted pests from making your chimney their home, which keeps everyone safe.

A chimney cap is a must-have item for those who use their fireplace often. Preventing any unwanted debris from entering your home is the only way to completely ensure your appliances are working safely and efficiently. Using a chimney cap is simple and easy. All you have to do is lift the convenient lever on the inside of your chimney before lighting your fire. When you are finished using your chimney, and the fire is completely out, return the cap to the closed position. This extra protection will give you peace of mind, while keeping you and your family safe and sound when your fireplace is in use, and also when it isn’t. Ask your local chimney accessory distributor about the right size chimney cap for your appliance.
