Happy New Year!
The new year is the perfect time to get a fresh perspective on your surroundings! When was the last time you considered the largest appliance in your home for instance? We suggest you take this time of year to schedule your annual chimney inspection.
Did you know there are multiple levels of inspection?
- In a Level 1 inspection, we will examine the readily accessible portions of the chimney exterior, interior and accessible portions of the appliance and the chimney connection. We will be looking for the basic soundness of the chimney structure and flue as well as the basic appliance installation and connections. We will also verify the chimney is free of obstruction and combustible deposits.
- A Level 2 inspection is required upon the sale or transfer of a property or after an operation malfunction or external event that is likely to have caused damage to the chimney, or in the event that something has changed about the system (such as an upgrade or material change). A level 2 inspection will be a more thorough inspection using a closed circuit camera.
- A Level 3 inspection will only occur if a level 1 or 2 inspection reveals a malfunction or fault in the system. This inspection may require the removal of certain components of the building or chimney where necessary. The removal of these components will allow greater access for inspectors to assess any issue.
