Good morning, and welcome to SPRING! Virginia has had a very interesting winter to say the least. While looking back over the past few months I have noticed an increase in house fires. There can be numerous reasons for something as devastating as fire, however there are a few things that can lower your chances of this dreadful accident. According to the National Fire Protection Association a chimney should be inspected annually and depending on use swept at least every two (2) years. Dryer vents are another part of your home that needs some “tender love and care”. We sometimes overlook these conveniences and as long as they are working we don’t give them another thought, but when a dryer stops drying, what a mess. The vent that runs from the back of your dryer to the outside needs to be inspected and swept also. This too should be done once a year.
Chimney sweeping is not a regulated industry in Virginia, so when you are in need of the services provided by a chimney sweep here are a few questions to ask: 1) Are your technicians certified? 2) Do you carry liability insurance? 3) Are your employees bonded?
Black Goose would answer all of these questions in the affirmative. If you find yourselves in need of our services please call, it will be a pleasure to serve you!
